TWO CHARLOTTE POLICE OFFICERS INFECTED WITH CORONAVIRUS ALSO ONE FIRE FIGHTER

As of April 3, 2020 there have been additional first responders infected with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Charlotte, NC. First responders have been preparing for this possibility since the beginning of the pandemic.

One Charlotte Fire Department worker has been infected with the Coronavirus, which prompted 13 other employees to get quarantined. As for the Charlotte Meck. Police Department, there have been two cops infected with the Coronavirus. Those two infections prompted 14 police employees to get quarantined.

“The County and City have been prepared for this possibility as our first responders have a difficult job that requires them to place their lives on the line to protect the public. We owe them and their family a debt of gratitude and we wish them a speedy recovery”

said Gibbie Harris, Mecklenburg County Public Health Director.

COVID-19 remains a very serious situation in Mecklenburg County and our public safety agencies have placed several preventive measures to keep our front line responders safe.

A paramedic for Mecklenburg County EMS in Charlotte tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this week.
