$17 MILLION IN METHAMPHETAMINE SEIZED AT PHARR INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE

U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility found a sizeable load of methamphetamine seized in a commercial truck arriving from Mexico. The drugs were worth over $17 million.

On Aug. 19, 2020, a Customs and Border Protection officer at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility in Pharr, Texas referred a tractor/trailer arriving from Mexico for further inspection. Utilizing all available tools and resources, including non-intrusive imaging technology, officers conducting the secondary examination discovered 875 packages of methamphetamine hidden within the trailer’s roof.

The total weight of this load of narcotics is 887.36 pounds and it is valued at $17,747,000.

Officers seized the tractor/trailer along with the narcotics and the case remains under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.
