On January 18, 2021 U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped a human smuggling attempt involving a U-Haul box truck in Laredo, Texas.
A white U-Haul box truck approached a immigration checkpoint. A service canine alerted to the vehicle during an immigration inspection of the driver.
The vehicle was referred to secondary inspection where a search inside the rear cargo area revealed six illegal immigrants hiding among furniture and mattresses. The suspects were all from Guatemala. The suspects were processed for illegal immigration violations and arrested.
