COUNTY COMMISSIONER CHARGED WITH DWI

Rowan County Commissioner Craig Pierce, 65, was arrested on June 27, 2021 on a DWI charge in Salisbury, NC. Craig is in his 3rd term on the Rowan County Board of Commissioners.

An officer pulled Craig over in the evening near the intersection of West Innes Street and Statesville Boulevard after a 911 call about a reckless driver. 

 The officer says Craig had red glassy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Police say Craig was belligerent and unable to complete field sobriety tests.   

Craig was arrested and taken to the Salisbury Police Department where he reportedly took a breathalyzer test and allegedly blew a 0.26. The legal limit is 0.08. 

Craig is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit.

Craig was charged with DWI. Craig was released to the custody of another individual on a written promise to appear in court.
