AMAZON HAD OVER 19,000 EMPLOYEES DIAGNOSED WITH THE CORONAVIRUS

Date:

On October 1, 2020 Amazon released comprehensive data that showed 19,816 of their United States employees caught the Coronavirus. Amazon sales have dominated the market as more people are shopping online versus shopping at physical stores.

Between March 1, 2020 and Sept. 19, 2020 Amazon counted 19,816 confirmed COVID-19 cases across its roughly 1.37 million Amazon and Whole Foods Market front-line employees across the United States.

Thousands of tests are being conducted daily, Amazon said, and it expects that to grow to 50,000 tests a day across 650 facilities by November 2020. Amazon said it would invest its Q2 profit of $4 billion into its COVID-19 response and will spend $1 billion on testing throughout the year.

Amazon says it has built a dedicated team of research scientists, program managers, procurement specialists, and software engineers in order to quickly scale up its testing capabilities.

Over 34.1 million people across the world have been diagnosed with COVID-19. In the United States there have been 7.2 million diagnosed cases and 207,651 deaths.
