On December 18, 2024 an employee at Siemens Energy Robert Mediate, 27, was killed on the job. The company is located on Westinghouse Boulevard Charlotte, NC. Siemens Energy produces power transformers and other technology.
The deadly work accident was at 5 p.m. Robert was handling the large power machines when he either fell in a dangerous area of the machine or got electrocuted.
Multiple employees saw the fatal encounter and tried to help Robert, but to no avail. Robert died immediately. Robert only had the job for 6 months. Siemens Energy had this to say:
“We are deeply saddened that we lost a member of the Siemens Energy family at our facility in Charlotte, NC on the evening of December 18, 2024. We are in touch with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department as well as the employee’s family.”
The North Carolina Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division is investigating the incident. In 2024 North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper awarded Siemens Energy a job development grant to expand its Charlotte facility.
