U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the Pharr International Bridge intercepted $21.2 million in methamphetamine concealed within a shipment manifested as tomatillo on January 8, 2025 in Pharr, Texas. 

A 18-wheeler truck was at the Pharr International Bridge border checkpoint. The truck was coming from Mexico and had a cargo full of tomatillos. 

The tractor trailer was selected for inspection, which included utilization of non-intrusive inspection equipment and screening by a canine team.

After physically inspecting the shipment, officers extracted 398 packages of methamphetamine weighing nearly 2,379 pounds concealed within the trailer.

Cops seized the narcotics and commercial truck. Homeland Security Investigations special agents initiated a criminal investigation.
